Message from the Executive Director, Saeed Mohammed bin Mohammed, to the Workers, Employees, and Members of Aden Refinery Company

To the Brothers, Workers, Employees, and Members of Aden Refinery Company,

Following the resignation of my brother and colleague, Eng. Ahmed Musaed Saeed, as Executive Director of Aden Refinery Company, I have been entrusted with the responsibility of carrying out this role.

First and foremost, I would like to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation, on my behalf and on behalf of all members of Aden Refinery Company, to my brother and colleague Ahmed Musaed for all the efforts he made throughout his tenure leading the refinery.

The mark of his work and achievements will remain evident in every corner of the refinery. May Allah place all his efforts and deeds in the balance of his good deeds.

Today, I assume this responsibility under extremely difficult circumstances. As you all know, the refinery has been out of operation in its primary role of refining crude oil, and its activities over the past years have been limited to storing petroleum products for the private sector in return for certain fees.

Unfortunately, this activity has also declined significantly in recent times, and we now receive vessels only on rare occasions. This means a significant decline in revenues needed to cover operating expenses and pay salaries.

Therefore, I call upon all my colleagues and members of Aden Refinery Company to renew our determination, roll up our sleeves, and devote ourselves to hard work, diligence, dedication, and sincerity, without exerting any pressure, and with full conviction and enthusiasm. Together, we will be able to overcome these difficulties.

My dear colleagues, we all share the responsibility of preserving this great institution. It belongs to us, to the people, and to future generations. Preserve its continuity through dedication to your work. Each one of us must fulfill his role within the framework of the responsibilities entrusted to him as a duty.

Of course, everyone aspires to improve their personal circumstances, and this can only be achieved through work. Work is the solution.

My colleagues in the company’s leadership and I have ambitious plans to overcome this crisis, but implementation is the responsibility of everyone.

Our primary objective at this stage is to restart the refinery and restore its role. This cannot be achieved through words or by going outside the established systems and laws.

Our aspirations and objectives will be achieved through work, and each one of us has a role that he is expected to fulfill.

My dear colleagues, I do not want to paint a bleak picture of the situation. Rather, we want to properly diagnose the problem in order to prescribe the appropriate remedy.

We will work together as one team. With our hands joined, we will accomplish what may seem impossible and achieve what we aspire to. We have no choice but to confront these challenges through solidarity, sincerity, and respect for administrative regulations and laws. These regulations and laws are the final reference and authority whenever differences arise.

As long as we adhere to the regulations governing work at the refinery, we will face no difficulty in carrying out our duties.

The administrative regulations and work systems that we inherited at the refinery are considered among the most advanced systems, and they remain suitable for organizing our work. We will adhere to and implement them with justice and fairness, without arbitrary interpretations or personal discretion.

We also face a task no less important than work in the workshops and operating units: qualification and training. This aspect of the refinery’s activities will be intensified.

Today, the refinery is suffering from a shortage of technical personnel, and addressing this issue requires a great deal of effort from all of us.

One final and particularly important point is that we will work diligently to complete the Power Station Project, a project that has faced delays over the past years. We will do everything within our capacity to bring the Chinese company implementing the project back to complete the work on the power station, and consequently contribute to the restarting of the refinery.

This is my message to all of you, my colleagues. As the person entrusted with this responsibility before Allah and then before you, I pledge to you that I will exert every possible effort to achieve the aspirations of the employees of Aden Refinery Company and everyone who cares about restoring this important economic institution to its rightful position.

Let us move forward to work, dedication, and commitment—with enthusiasm and hope.
